Backstory

The Student Behind the Spotlight

My name is Jericho “Rico” Cruse, and I am a vocalist and student leader based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I study vocal music in the Music Conservatory at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, where I currently serve as a Bass Section Leader and perform in several advanced choral ensembles.

I have been selected for the American Choral Directors Association All State Choir in both 2025 and 2026, and I regularly participate in honor choirs, regional festivals, and national vocal programs. These experiences continue to strengthen my musicianship, discipline, and appreciation for collaborative performance.

Alongside my music studies, I am also pursuing college level coursework in commercial music while maintaining strong academics. In November 2024, I was honored as Student of the Month, reflecting my commitment to excellence both in and outside the classroom. Music is my primary focus, but I also value leadership, curiosity, and being a well rounded student.

Outside of music, I am also an entrepreneur, author, and youth leader who enjoys helping other young people explore their creativity and potential.

I founded Rico’s Rockin’ Pop, a youth led snack business that ships my signature candied corn puffs to customers across the country. I am also the author of Rico Rocks at Problem Solving, a children’s book that encourages young readers to approach challenges with creativity and confidence.

I enjoy sharing what I have learned about entrepreneurship through youth programs like Start Up Kids Camp and the How to Fund Your Summer Fun workshop series. In these programs, I work with other young people to explore business ideas and learn how creativity, leadership, and problem solving can turn ideas into real opportunities.

Through music, mentorship, and community involvement, my goal is to use my voice to connect with others and inspire young people to pursue their passions.
